WILLKOMMEN<\/h2>\n

The architecture of El Hierro Island is as compelling as its place names. The very essence of the island\u2019s shared architecture is to be found in this idyllic cottage, built with volcanic rock and perched on a ledge with views of the Atlantic Ocean. El Lunch\u00f3n is a fitting reflection of the spirit of popular building on the island. What we discover when we arrive is precisely what we had hoped for and expected \u2013 and it certainly won\u2019t let you down. It is situated in a superb location in the western-most area of the Canary Islands, serving as a sort of watchtower for travellers.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not difficult to find number 10, calle El Lunch\u00f3n. The fa\u00e7ade emerges proudly out of the rock, and you can enjoy views of a unique landscape. The traveller who arrives at this house does so with a natural feeling of fulfilment because it is clear that he has everything within his reach: the mountains and the sea. We can soak up the last ray of sun to reach Europe and enjoy spectacular sunsets, surrounded by nature of unparalleled beauty.<\/p>\n

But this country cottage is not here solely for its location. History plays a part as well. This is a home that was built at the beginning of the 19th century by the owner\u2019s great-great-grandfather on a 3,000 m2 piece of land. The structure exudes beauty and antiquity in equal proportions. The spacious kitchen is bright and cheerful, but its size makes it no less hospitable; on the contrary, it draws us in. Casa El Lunch\u00f3n is one of the few places where you can cook while contemplating the Atlantic Ocean. Its large picture windows are the ideal overlook.<\/p>\n

The bedrooms have much to offer as well. Furnished in a neo-rustic style, they are simple and unpretentious. The ceilings boast wooden beams, and the walls are made of stone. After a stroll along the coast, there is nothing like the feeling of staying in a cottage that offers us shelter in the midst of nature. The main house is situated over a former wine cellar, combining majestic wood floors and roof with its whitewashed walls. From the terrace -a veritable box seat, if you will-, you can enjoy the marvellous views of the El Golfo Valley. The bath is well-decorated in a retro style, paying homage to the nineteenth century era when the house was conceived.<\/p>\n

A stroll around the house will lead you through fruit orchards full of papaya, guava, mandarin, orange, peach and fig trees. It is a Garden of Eden at the foot of the Atlantic.<\/p>\n
